　　01、学校介绍

　　匹兹堡大学(University of Pittsburgh)成立于1787年，是历史悠久的世界顶尖公立研究型大学，美国著名高等学府，同时也是美国最早的十所大学之一。其主校区位于宾夕法尼亚州第二大城市匹兹堡，与卡耐基梅隆大学隔街相对，各学院分布在奥克兰区(Oakland)，地理位置十分优越。匹兹堡大学是北美顶尖大学学术联盟美国大学协会(AAU)的62所成员校之一，被美国社会誉为“公立常春藤”大学，其下属UPMC为全球顶尖医学院之一，在器官移植、神经外科学等领域均处于国际领先地位。校训格言是“真理与美德(Veritas et Virtus)。

　　02、声誉

　　截至2008年匹大获得的捐款基金达23.3亿美元，全美排名29位，公立大学中居第8位。2006年匹大获得的美国联邦政府科研经费位居全美第10位。庞大的经费支持，使得匹兹堡大学2010年度财政预算达到17.2亿美元之巨。匹兹堡大学2019 U.S News全美大学排名第70名，世界排名第43名。学校最负盛名的是医学，人文社会科学，以及生物科学的相关学科领域。在美国国家研究委员会(NRC)对美国各大学评估中，匹大哲学系排名全美第二;科学史与科学哲学系排名全美第五;艺术史与建筑史系排名全美第七。
