Narrator: Listen to a conversation between a student and a Professor.

Student: Hi professor, Edkins. You wanted to see me?

教授：你好 Bill，谢谢你来见我。

学生：我的调查论文有问题吗？

Student: Is there something wrong with my research paper?

教授：我想你知道我们部门在招聘一个新教授。

Professor: I think you know that the department is looking to hire a new professor.

Are you familiar with our hiring process?

学生:不太了解，但这跟我有什么关系呢？

Student: No, but what is that got to do with me?

教授：嗯，Bill，我们已经有了几个有资格的应聘者，在这环节的面试中我们需要一个由我们系教授和学生组成的委员会。

Professor: Well, Bill, we have several qualified applicants we're serious about and as a part of the interview process we have to meet with the committee of the professors and students in our department.

Professor: Yes, like a sample lecture on one of their academic interests.

Professor: So I'd like to know if you be willing to join us as a student representative on the interview committee.

Student: I understand. So how many applicants are there?

Professor: Let's see. We have 4, all very good candidates, that we will be looking at over the next few weeks.

But it'll be a good experience for you, especially if you're going to graduate school.
