Firebaugh and Beck contend that economic development improves the overall well-being of people within developing countries. However, other scholars emphasize the (i) of this view, empirically demonstrating that while economic development does in fact contribute to the well- being of the population of developing countries, the magnitude of development’s positive effects on well-being has (ii) . In other words, these scholars suggest that (iii) economic development and human well-being is taking place in developing countries.
