Percentage of Time in Each Sleep Stage

At night, your body moves naturally from one sleep stage to another. Heart rate and movement are used to calculate your sleep pattern.

Light Sleep: The muscles relax. Heart rate and breathing slow down. About half of sleeping time is usually spent in light sleep.

Deep Sleep: The body is deeply relaxed. This stage is critical for physical recovery and growth.

REM (Rapid Eye Movement) Sleep: Brain activity increases, and vivid dreams may occur. Even though the eyes are closed, they move quickly. This stage is essential for memory, learning, and creativity.

Awake: It is normal for a person to wake up several times at night.
